The investigation into the interpersonal relationships recounted in this book stems from the desire to retrace the traces (literary and otherwise), generally left out because they are considered impertinent, of certain protagonists and co-protagonists of the Italian artistic scene between the 19th and 20th centuries. The result is a scenario made up of mundane chronicles, a few scandals, escapes and betrayals, even 'eternal' marital love affairs. A scenario where passions and feelings are often intertwined with fears and tenderness, and where the betrayals and reunions of the protagonists always end up adding a brushstroke of colour to the great narrative fresco of our literature. In the pages that follow to add a few touches to the fresco are the women, in hearts or in spades, of the poets.
